UKCEN asks the Home Office to clarify the position of vulnerable groups such as carers, disabled people and their ability to apply for Settled Status. ‘Many of our members, who belong to these categories, are extremely concerned that provisions have not yet been made to allow them to access a future status after the UK leaves the EU. They are concerned they will be unable to continue to access the same services and funds they currently access. They are concerned about the possibility they will unable to naturalise as British citizens. It is on their behalf that we urge your department to look into these issues and provide us with concrete answers to our questions.’
We will continue to lobby the UK Government to ensure a new policy is set up and published as soon as possible, so that people in all the categories referred to, can receive reassurance they will be able to apply for the new status.
